Meet Olha, a resilient and determined colleague, wife, and mother of two children, whose journey from Ukraine to Austria after the outbreak of war is a testament to her unwavering spirit and adaptability.
Olha embarked on an uncertain journey back in March 2022 facing the daunting task of finding stability in a new country. That led her to discover the kindness of strangers and the power of community support when she accidentally pulled off the highway to take a break from the long journey fleeing from Ukraine and stayed in a hotel near Himberg.
The owner of the hotel offered to help her, and the rest of the story is just a coincidence of circumstances and maybe luck. “I cannot imagine that people can help so much“, she reflects.
She had an interview at FCC Austria a few months later, though she didn't meet the language criterion. Sandra Gollubits-Reutner, a Member of the HR team, suggested that she check the job opportunities with colleagues from the Group located in Vienna, as she knew that they were looking for a colleague in the Controlling team and that knowledge of German was not a must. Olha found herself at home in a role that not only resonated with her professional background but also echoed her dedication to environmental issues.
Despite the distance separating her from her husband, Olha remains grateful for the invaluable support of her local community and takes immense pride in her children's school achievements and how quickly they learned to speak German.
We at FCC appreciate Olga's diligence, humility, enthusiasm for new things, always polite approach when dealing with colleagues, and also her sense of humor. She proves that with resilience and perseverance, any obstacle can be overcome.
What does Olha like about her job at FCC?
“Your environment is the key to your success”. I’m happy to work with professionals in their field, come daily to the office and feel the spirit of friendship, support, and kindness. I couldn’t even imagine that I’d be part of such a strong leading team, which has already existed for decades. I like the way how colleagues communicate with each other, and encourage new employees, who just start their careers in the company. It’s an honor for me to contribute my skills and ideas to our FCC family."
