Storks at Zohor landfill: New nesting plans!

The landfill in Zohor is becoming a real airport for storks! Recently, we met with an ornithologist and representatives of Slovenské elektrárne to discuss the “VIP stork zone” on our site.

Every year, a growing number of feathered visitors arrive, and one nest is no longer enough. We are planning to expand to 3–4 nests – a true “stork development project” has been approved!

Ornithologists will track our storks with GPS to better understand their migration routes. One bird has already been recorded flying from Zohor all the way to Arad, Romania – where FCC also operates a landfill. Perhaps the journey even included a stopover in Gyál, Hungary, another of our sites.

If this continues, we may soon have our own migratory FCC stork group.
